How do I book a session with you?

The best way to book a session with me is to fill out my contact form or emailing me directly at studioxiiiphotography@gmail.com. Filling out as much information that you have about yourself, proposed date, and any other details of your day helps get me you a more accurate quote and your session booked quicker!

I require a 50% deposit to secure your date in my calendar. I'll send you a contract to sign and then you're booked and the fun stuff begins!

How does Payment work?

For all packages and sessions I require a 50% non-refundable retainer to hold your spot in my calendar. The remainder of payment is due one week before your session (or one month before your wedding day). I accept final payments on the day of your session if you plan to pay by cash/check.

I accept forms of payment by credit card, PayPal, cash and check.

I offer payment plans for folks who need it, please ask so I can find a way to accommodate you.

Where do your sessions take place? Do you have a studio?

I'm currently located in Oakland, California and I'm natural light photographer which means I photograph my couples and families on location, whether that be in your home, your backyard, a beautiful spot in nature, or your favorite coffee shop. We will work together to find a location that is special and unique to you, and utilize the elements and the light to make your session absolutely stunning.

I don't have a studio (yet!) but I do have access to rentals and can accommodate

Do you Travel? What is your travel Fee?

I Love to travel! I will travel anywhere (and yes I mean anywhere) for a good love story. My travel fees depend on the location and how far in advance you book (if airlines are involved)

What is your turnaround time for photo sessions?

Final Galleries for Love Story and Family sessions typically take 2-3 weeks. Weddings take 6-8 weeks so I send a generous gallery of sneak peek images within one week of the wedding so that you can have instant gratification and can enjoy some of your photos right away!

If you need your photos back immediately, I offer quick turnaround rates for an additional price.

What is your editing style like? How much do you retouch?

I color tone my photos to bring out the emotion in them and accurately capture the feel of the moment when we were there. My editing style is based on making images look and feel more like film, which means minimally muted colors and golden tones. However, I try to edit each image to feel the way it was in that moment, so there's no blanket formula to the way I edit. I deliver a mix of color and black and white images. I love black and white, and try to include the color version when applicable, but some photos are truly meant to be in black and white. Trust me on this.

I do very light photoshop to remove blemishes, smooth out under eye circles, remove distracting things from the background of photos. I don't do heavy photoshop manipulation, but if you would like your imaged additionally retouched, I can outsource them for an additional price.

I first fell in love with photography when I was in high school. I learned on my Dad's Pentax camera and processed film in a darkroom. I started my business 6 years ago and it has taken on many different shapes, but now I feel the most authentic to my craft as a queer photographer. I've shot more weddings than I can count, and I'm so grateful for every opportunity to create beautiful images for folks.

How long have you been doing photography?'

Do you have insurance? What happens if you get sick?

Yes I have business insurance, and a network of photographers that I know and trust that would be able to fill in for me if worst case scenario. I am always going to give 110% to you and your wedding/session. If re-scheduling for a session needs to happen, we will work together to find a date that works for both of us.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask that you give at least 24 hours of notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. In the event of cancellation and your full session has been paid, I will refund you minus your non-refundable deposit. I will always try to accommodate schedule changes, but weekends book up quickly, so make sure you check in ahead of time.

How far in advance do you book?

I book up to a year in advance. Dates will not be held without a deposit though, so make sure you send me your date as soon as you know!

Do you have any other queer vendor recommendations?

Yes I do! I love working with other queer business owners, and having queer vendors for your event is so wonderful. I'm currently working on a referral page for my website, but in the meantime, send me a message and I can send you names of folks/companies that I love!

I love your dedication to your LGBTQ community, do you ever photograph straight folks/weddings?

I love a good ally!! I definitely photograph allies when I have availability in my schedule and if they are supportive of my message and business values of a queer wedding/family photographer.

I'm a beginning photographer, do you do mentorships?

I would love to take on more teaching opportunities and am beginning to put together packages for mentoring new photographers one on one. I also teach a selfie class, and have a course for wedding industry vendors on how to be more LGBTQ friendly and inclusive in their businesses. I hope in the future to host a workshop for new photographers. For teaching/speaking opportunities please contact me!
